How To Receive The Master’s Touch

by Anita Mondragon

I drew this from my Promise Box this morning.  “Show me your ways, LORD, teach me your paths.  Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior,(You are the God of my salvation) and my hope is in you all day long.”  Psalm 25:4, 5 I know you all must be getting tired of my Promise Box revelations, and my Teddy stories… But, God reveals so much to me through these two things.  So…here I go again! This morning, when my husband Mike was getting ready to leave, our dog Teddy, kept laying on his shoe (while he was in it); and jumping up on his leg, trying to touch his hand for some love.  Mike was in a hurry as it was getting late, and was becoming frustrated at Teddy’s advances.  I laughed and said, “Awww…look!  He just wants a touch from the master’s hand!”  Then it struck me…we should all want a touch from The Master’s hand. If we all started our day by laying at the feet of Jesus, asking for His touch, or like the verse above says, “Show ME Your ways Lord…guide me in Your truth.  Help me always remember that You are the God of my salvation…so I can confidently have hope in You for whatever comes my way today!”  Our day would go smoothly…IF we would do those things! Sometimes, we need to be persistent in our petitions to God.  Not because He does not hear us…but because He wants to see how earnest we are in our desire to follow Him. Dogs are funny creatures.  They are tenacious in their quest for attention, love, play-time, food, or their need to go outside.  Teddy lets me know when he needs to go out.  Sometimes, I’m too distracted to notice what he is trying to tell me…so he stands on my chest, gets right up in my face with those big brown eyes of his and stays there until I fulfill his request to go out.  I say, “Tell me what you want!”  Then I go down the list.  When I ask, “Do you want to go outside?”  He barks wildly, wags his tail, and runs for the door. At times, I go to God in prayer, but I’m not specific. Which, by the way, I don’t need to be specific because He already knows my need…even before I do; but he wants to see if I recognize that need. I can almost hear God saying, “What do you want Anita?… Just tell me, and I’ll take care of it!”  But it’s hard for me to show my desperation…bear my soul…weep.  Why?  Because, most of the time,   I want to tell Him how to fix it for me.  All I need to say to Him is, “Show me your ways Lord…guide me in your truth!” When I do that, I can be confident that He’ll take care of the rest!
