The Veil Was Torn In Two 

At that same hour the veil in the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. To the Jews the veil was one of the most important things in the temple. It surrounded the Ark of the Covenant which symbolized the very presence of God.

It was huge, 60 feet high, and it was beautiful made of the finest materials. The fact that it was torn from top to bottom shows us that it was an act of God. It symbolized direct access to God; the door to God had been open to common man.  (Heb. 10:19-22)

Up until that time only the High Priest could enter the Holy of Holies once a year to make atonement for the sins of the people. But now, because of Jesus, we can enter the very presence of God and pray at any time. We can go into the very throne room of Grace and be in the very presence of the King of Kings. How awesome is that!

This very thought brings us full circle. We have been fasting and praying for the last three weeks. Have you ever given it much thought as to why we can go directly to God with our prayers? It was because of Jesus. He not only secured for us our salvation but also access to God.

With darkness on the land and the veil in the temple torn, the work and will of the Father which Jesus came to do was now complete. Jesus said that He came not to do His own will but that of the Father. He had a work to do and that work lead directly to the cross! These events are all a result of Jesus doing God’s will.
Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.” John 4:34

We can apply Jesus’ words about food and prayer to our own lives. It has been a pleasure to take this time to put away some things like food and earthly pleasures to seek Our Lord and to find God’s purpose for our own life.

I pray that it has been a successful journey for you and that you have learned some things from our Lord, things like discipline and the privileges that we have as believers in Christ. I have enjoyed sharing my heart with you as we have journeyed together in our Daniel Fast. May God’s richest blessings fill you and surround you with a new excitement and a readiness to do the Fathers will.
