Edit Me

by Anita Mondragon

Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:  And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. – Psalm 139:23-24

I went to a Bible Study the other night.  Upon arriving, the hostess handed out some quotes.  The first one I looked at started out with the words: “Lord, edit me…”

Now, I’m not a believer in coincidence…I KNOW that God makes all things happen at certain times for His purpose! And, considering the conversation I had in the car with my friend…I’d say HE was listening.  My mouth was spewing forth venomous words regarding a sister in the Lord that had hurt me to the quick, years ago.  I had no business saying those things, even though they were true.  I realized that this is one situation I have still not given over to God.  Shame on me!

Anyway…His purpose that night for me was to give me a stark reminder to keep my mouth in check!  To put ALL things in His hands!  To all of you, that really know me well…you have already learned that I have no filter.  I say this to my shame! I’m kind of like Peter…I say and react before I really think it through.

After saying all of that, I would like to share the rest of this little quote.  If you’re honest…I’m sure you’ll see yourself in there somewhere.

Lord, edit me.  Correct me when my words are faulty.  Revise my thoughts.  Polish the rough edges of my being….  Correct the internal rhythm so that the outward meter will be whole.  I want to be a work of art, Lord, a classic of some kind.  Give me form.  Fill me with the beauty of Yourself.  Help those who read my life to see that You are the workman;  I am the workmanship; and out of me, You are creating a work of art!  Amen  -Unknown

Let’s give our hurts and anger to the Lord today.  Let’s pray the above verse, “Search me, O God, and KNOW my heart! “
