LOST

By Anita Mondragon

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”  Matthew 11:28

In 2005, a friend of mine challenged me to write poetry. Up to that time, I had only written stories for my grandchildren.  We argued back and forth as to my abilities to write something other than children’s stories.  That very night, God came to me and woke me from a dead sleep.  He said: “Get up…and write this NOW!”  I wrote the following on the back of an envelope, using only a night-light. -anita

GET READY TO RUMBLE!

By Anita Mondragon

Jacob was left alone, and a man wrestled with him till daybreak. 25 When the man saw that he could not overpower him, he touched the socket of Jacob’s hip so that his hip was wrenched as he wrestled with the man. -Genesis 32:24

SOPHIA AND THE BLUE RIBBON

By Anita Mondragon

“When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walks through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none.”  Then it says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came’; and when it comes, it finds it unoccupied, swept, and put in order. “Then it goes and takes along with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there; and the last state of that man becomes worse than the first. That is the way it will also be with this evil generation.”  Matthew 12:43-45

My dad used many illustrations in his sermons; the following story was based on one of these illustrations, and I  re-wrote it for my grandchildren in a way that they could understand.

You may want to read it to your children and explain how Jesus can wash us clean and save our souls! -anita

Genesis 3:14-15

The LORD God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, Cursed are you more than all cattle, And more than every beast of the field; On your belly you will go, And dust you will eat All the days of your life; And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her seed; He shall bruise you on the head, And you shall bruise him on the heel.”

A LIFE BOAT

By Anita Mondragon

The Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.”  Luke 19:10

Though they are slighting Him, still He is waiting, waiting the penitent child to receive; Plead with them earnestly, plead with them gently, He will forgive if they only believe.  Rescue the perishing, care for the dying; Jesus is merciful…Jesus will save! -Fanny J. Crosby 1869 and William H. Doane, 1870

THE GREATEST MAN I’VE EVER KNOWN

By Anita Mondragon

(This is Jesus speaking!) …Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.  Revelation 3:20

PROSTITUTION…WHAT IT REALLY IS

By Anita Mondragon

Years ago, I read an article in the Rocky Mountain News.  A journalist had interviewed several prostitutes here, on the streets of Denver.

I wrote down several of the questions asked, and the answers given.  Here are the two that stuck out in my mind:

Q:  “What is the answer for you?”

A:  “I don’t know…I think its death.”

Q:  “Living this way must be very difficult for you…what is the hardest part?”

A:  “The hardest part…is having to be me when it’s all done…”

THE NURSERY WINDOW

By Anita Mondragon
I believe the spirit part of every man exists in Heaven before he becomes flesh here on earth…hence, the nursery window.  God knows us before we are formed in our mother’s womb, and He places His purpose in us, as well as our gifts, abilities, etc.  That’s why He could say: “I KNOW the plans I have for you…”  Just a thought…just an opinion. -anita
