The Rock of Ages

by Anita Mondragon

“Other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.”  1 Cor. 3:11

“When darkness veils His lovely face, I rest on His unchanging grace; In every high and stormy gale, my anchor holds within the veil.  On Christ the solid Rock I stand; all other ground is sinking sand…” – Edward Mote, 1834 / William B. Bradbury, 1863

I sometimes tremble so faint of heart,

Though on the solid Rock I stand;

Anything Goes

by Anita Mondragon

“Jesus answered, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”  John 14:6

Remember that old song, “If it’s your thing…do what you wanna do…”?  When that song came out, that was a new idea…now, it seems to be the ‘norm’.

Nowadays, if you can THINK it…it’s ok to SAY it.  If you SAY it…you might as well DO it; and if you believe it enough to DO it… well…you might as well BE it! ANYTHING GOES!

There are no boundaries anymore; no right or wrong…no black or white.  No absolutes it seems.

The Last Chapters

by Anita Mondragon

“Even when you are old, I will be the same.  Even when your hair has turned gray, I will take care of you.  I made you and will take care of you.  I will carry you and save you.”  Isaiah 46:4 This predicament I seem to be in has been on my mind for a few years now.  When your parents have died, and all your aunts and uncles have joined them, you realize how frail life can be. Then the ravages of time start catching up with YOU…it seems that Miss Clairol and Max Factor have become two of your best friends!  You dye your hair now because you have to…not because you want a ‘new’ look!  You try to cover up the new wrinkles that appear every day.  You realize your youth has faded.  What’s that old song…”The Old Gray Mare, she ain’t what she used to be….?  Growing old can be frightening, to say the least!

Teddy

by Anita Mondragon

As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. 39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. 40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!” 41 “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, 42 but few things are needed—or indeed only one.[a] Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”-Luke 10:38-42 There’s an old hymn called:  Sitting At The Feet Of Jesus.  Here is the first verse.

Behold I Am With You Always

by Anita Mondragon

I wrote the following last week when things were pretty rough around here…but now, five days later, I am almost ashamed to blog this, for God has come through, yet again.  How could I ever doubt that He would?  I don’t know…because He ALWAYS comes through!  But, I need to be honest, and this is what I felt one-day last week.  Maybe some of you can identify with me:

I Don’t Know You

by Anita Mondragon

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘LORD, LORD,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22Many will say to me on that day, ‘LORD, LORD, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ (Matthew 7:21-23)

You speak to me and call out my name, when others are around;

In pious tones, you thank me that you’re not like those OTHER sinners…there…kneeling on the ground.

Do It Afraid

by Anita Mondragon

Years ago, when I was still in the workforce, our company paid beaucoup bucks for a seminar we all had to take.  It was called, “Integrity Selling.”  I really learned a lot from this seminar.  The Founder and Author of the book must have known a lot about God, and His precepts, for it was Biblical in many ways.  Take a look at the following, and you’ll see what I mean.

Here are some quotes from the book: I GO WHERE I AM AFRAID TO GO I DO WHAT I AM AFRAID TO DO I ASK WHEN I AM AFRAID TO ASK

The Morning After

by Anita Mondragon

We’ve all heard of ‘The morning after pill’.  You know…it’s the one you take in case you got pregnant the night before….

I want to talk to you today about the ‘Morning after pill’ that the devil gives you every Monday morning. Some of us…most of us Believers attend church on Sunday morning.  We get filled with the Holy Spirit, bask in His glory, bathe in His goodness.  We are fired up to spread the Gospel…pregnant with a word from God that He has spoken through the pastor, or someone else, or perhaps we heard Him directly speak to us;  only to lose it all, miscarry, if you will once Monday morning rolls around and we face the cares of this life.

The Red Solution

by Anita Mondragon

Just off of I-70, here in Colorado, stands a warehouse turned dispensary called The Green Solution. It’s very name leads one to believe that whatever ailment you possess…they have the solution, the cure for all of your problems. However, the ‘solution’ is only temporary. It only lasts for a short while. Once the effects of the drug, Marijuana wears off…your problems are back in full force. Your anxiety is still there. Your depression…still there. Loneliness? …Yep! It’s still there.

So, if you’ll give me a moment of your time, I’d like to talk to you about The Red Solution.

“He which testifies these things says, ‘Surely I come quickly, Amen.’  Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” Revelation 22:20

(Come and take us home to be with you)

“There is nothing on earth that can satisfy our deepest longing.  We long to see God.  The leaves of life are rustling with the rumor that we will…and we won’t be satisfied until we do.”  Max Lucado from his book:  When God Whispers Your Name

The smell of Chile simmering on the stove…the fireplace ablaze with warmth and light.  Rain falling quietly just outside my window…Home.
