IT MAKES ME WANNA SHOUT!

By Anita Mondragon

I awoke this morning with a shaft of sunlight piercing my eyes.  It was still early, so as I lay there, a song kept playing over and over in my head….  It goes like this:

“When I think about the Lord, how He saved me, how He raised me, how He picked me up, how He turned me around, how He put my feet on solid ground…it makes me wanna shout-  Halleluja! Thank You Jesus!  Lord, you’re worthy of all the honor and all the glory and all the praise!  Yes…it makes me wanna shout!”

I must have been singing that in my sleep, because it was the first thought that came to mind. But there are many in this world that did not wake up today.  Many never opened their eyes…never saw the sunlight.

I know things are hard right now.  Fears and worries about the pandemic and who it will strike next.  Wearing masks and gloves everywhere you go.  Social distancing-no hugs, no handshakes…stay in your house except for essential outings…  The world is no longer what it was a few weeks ago.  Life is forever changed.  But, we that awoke this morning, need to rejoice and be glad that God saw fit to wake us up!  We still have the opportunity to show others the way to Jesus!  We still have precious time with loved ones, family, and friends.  We can still make things right, say we’re sorry, make amends to torn relationships.

After I lay in bed and sang my song out loud, I began to pray for those I love.  Then I prayed for the sick and afflicted with this virus that they would be healed.  Then I prayed for myself.  Believe it or not, I prayed for patience.  I know that is a scary thing to ask for because trials and tribulations are what bring about patience, but I lack greatly in that department, so I asked God to make me more patient.

If you are reading this, that means you were awakened by God Himself this morning.  It’s another chance to do the right things today.  It’s another chance to ask God to awaken your spirit to His truth and purpose for this day.  He didn’t wake you up just to sit in front of the TV and stuff your face.  Someone needs to hear how Jesus died for them to save them from their lost estate.  You can do that!  Call someone, write a letter, send an email or text, message them, write something on your Facebook page.  Reach out!  Social distancing does not include the use of WORDS! Tell someone how Jesus saved you…how He raised you out of darkness…how He picked you up when you were going in the wrong direction and turned you around…how He put your feet on solid ground so that now, your life is stable, even in all the chaos!

Today is your chance to change someones world.  Psalm 107:2 says: Has the LORD redeemed you? Then speak out! Tell others he has redeemed you from your enemies.
It also says “This is the day that the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it”.-Psalm 118:24
