JESUS DOESN’T CARE!

By Anita Mondragon

Some of you may be scratching your head right now saying, “Now…wait a minute!  I thought this was a Godly blog…”

Well, it is!  My point here is that we as Christians sometimes concern ourselves with things that really don’t matter to God.  We set our own standards of ‘how’ folks should behave…we have different ideas about sin-maybe we hold one sin greater than another; we pass judgment on certain behaviors, while God sits back in amazement at our forgetfulness of how WE were when He found us.

Like the religious people of Jesus’ time, we think because we are educated, have jobs, cars, houses, and the like, that we are better than those not as blessed as we.

If a homeless person walks into the service, plops down beside us, looking disheveled, and reeking of liquor and body odor… we decide we need to move and sit somewhere far, far away.  After all, they just aren’t in our ‘class’!

Maybe a man walks in with a hat on, and leaves it on during the service instead of removing it.  We believe this to be rude and unacceptable. We think within ourselves that they have no manners…or even worse, we conclude that they do it out of defiance.

Perhaps a prostitute wanders in, searching for REAL love-because she finds none on the street.  The men ogle, while the women look at her with disdain!

The Pharisees believed themselves to be perfect-in no need of redemption.  But Jesus said this of them: 25Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. 26Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, so that the outside may become clean as well. 27Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside, but on the inside are full of dead men’s bones and every kind of impurity.…

When we act like we are better than other folks just because we know Scripture, attend church all the time, and live fairly ‘good’ lives…we are acting like the Pharisees of the Bible.  But Peter said: “He (Jesus) is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”

So, next time we get to thinking that we’re perfect…let’s remember that we’re not! No one is.  Remember that Jesus died for the sins of the world; that includes the homeless, the alcoholic, the drug addict, the prostitute, and yes…even the guy that wears his hat in church!

STOP PASSING JUDGMENT ON FOLKS!  LOOK AT YOURSELF AND REMEMBER GOD’S MERCY!

We should love on all those that walk through our doors.  We should rejoice in the fact that they are in church and will hear the Word of God!  Because most of the things we deem important…well…Jesus just doesn’t care about! And neither should we!
