READY OR NOT…

By Anita Mondragon

My youngest loves to play Tag, and Hide and go seek.  My son studies his options for the latter game.  He knows where to hide so that I can’t find him.  He’s tricked me quite a few times to where I finally give up, and he wins the game.  I was reminded of this last night when we played before bed.

My husband on the other hand, loves to fish.  His equipment is always in tip-top shape, all in one place, and ever ready to go at the drop of a hat!

Some of you may be scratching your head and asking ‘why’ is she sharing this on a church blog. It’s simple.  Preparation is vital to your/our well-being…, especially for our eternal state.  See, none of us know the day, nor the hour when Jesus may call us home.  We don’t know when He’ll touch us on the shoulder and say, “Tag!  You’re it…you’re time on earth is done!”

In the game of Hide and Go Seek, we get warning words of “ready or not…here I come.”  But Jesus gave us those words long, long ago.  He said, “Be ready!  For you know not the day nor the hour when the Son of Man shall come…” (I’m paraphrasing)  My point is, he gave us fair warning.

I look at my husband, and when it comes to fishing…he’s always ready.  One of his friends called last night and they made plans to go fishing today.  The friends’ last words were, “I’ll call you in the morning and let you know when I’m coming.”  At 6:45, the phone rings and he says he’s on his way!  We’re still in bed!  I jumped up and begin making sandwiches and coffee.  My husband didn’t seem perturbed at all.  He nonchalantly gathered his fishing equipment….(that he’d gotten ready the night before) might I add, and took his time getting showered and dressed.  I on the other hand was in a tither!  What I should have prepared the night before was left undone.  Luckily with this fishing trip, I was given just enough time to do what I needed to do before the arrival of our friend.

With Jesus…it will be different.  There will be no extra time to ‘ready’ yourself.  We have no idea when He will call us home-either individually, by death…or at His trumpet call in the Rapture.  There will be no hiding from Him.  He will find you wherever you are.  He said, “TODAY IS THE DAY OF SALVATION!  NOW IS THE TIME!”  Are you prepared?  Have you asked Him to save you from your sins?  Have you made Him your Lord and Savior?  If not my friend, there is still time for you.  Call on Him today…TODAY!  RIGHT NOW!

One day, He’ll call you into His presence.  One day, the reality of “Ready or not…here I come…” will find you.  Have you prepared for that day?  Are you ready to go in an instant?
