Romans 5:6-11 — The Great Depth of Justification Cont.

1.) WE WERE UNGODLY AND WITHOUT STRENGTH, YET CHRIST DIED FOR US (ROM. 5:6-7)

2.) WE WERE SINNERS, YET GOD DEMONSTRATED HIS LOVE FOR US (ROM. 5:8)

3.) WE WERE ENEMIES, YET GOD RECONCILED AND SAVED US (ROM. 5:9-11)

a.) God proved His love for us (Rom. 5:8)

b.) God proved His love by justification (Rom. 5:9) (Col. 1:20; Heb. 9:14)

c.) God proves His love by saving us from wrath (Jn. 3:16, 36; Rom. 6:23; Gal. 3:13)

d.) We were enemies: God reconciles and saves us by doing three things (Rom. 5:10-11)

1.) God reconciles us by Christ’s death (2 Cor. 5:18; Eph. 1:6, 2:16;Col. 1:20; Heb. 2:17; 1 Jn. 4:19)

2.) God saves us by Christ’s life (Rom. 5:10) (Rom. 8:34; Heb. 7:25; 1 Tim. 2:5; Heb. 8:6, 9:15, 24, 12:24; 1 Jn. 2:1-2)

3.) God gives us joy (Rom. 5:11) (Jn. 15:11, 16:24; Rom. 14:17;

1 Pet. 1:8-9; Ps. 16:11; Ps. 126:2; Isa. 12:3, 35:10, 61:10)
