11-17-2013 SUN (Rom 2 17-29) God's Case Against the Religionist Pt 21.) THE RELIGIONIST PROFESSES RELIGION (ROM. 2:17-20)

2.) THE RELIGIONIST FAILS TO LIVE WHAT HE PROFESSES (ROM. 2:21-24)

3.) THE RELIGIONIST BELIEVE’S THAT A RITUAL IS THE WAY TO SECURE GOD’S APPROVAL (ROM. 2:25-27)

a.) Ritual (circumcision) counts only if a man keeps the law (Word) (Rom. 2:25)
b.) The uncircumcised  man who keeps the righteousness of the law (Rom. 2:26) (1 Jn. 3:23)
c.) The uncircumcised man who keeps the law shall judge the religionist (Rom. 2:27) (Mt. 7:21, 12:50; Jn. 13:17; James 1:22; 1 Jn. 2:17)

4.) THE RELIGIONIST MISSES THE WHOLE POINT (ROM. 2:28-29)

a.) Not an outward thing (Rom. 2:28) (Rom. 3:10, 23)
b.) An inward thing – of the heart, in the spirit (Rom. 2:29) (Ezk. 36:26; Jn. 1:13; 3:3; 2 Cor. 5:17; Titus 3:5; 1 Pet. 1:23; 1 Jn. 5:1)
c.) It’s praise is not of men (not physical, of the flesh), but of God (Rom. 2:29) (Col. 2:11, 3:11; Phil. 3:3; Deut. 30:6; Jer. 4:4, 6:10)
