11-03-2013 SUN (Rom 2 1-16) God's Case Against The Moralist Pt 2 1.) THE RELIGIONIST PROFESSES RELIGION (ROM. 2:17-20)           

a.) Religionist vs. follower of Christ (Titus 3:5; Prov. 20:6, 30:12; Ro. 3:20; Gal. 2:16; Eph. 2:8-9; Gal. 2:20; Eph. 2:22;
Phil. 1:21; Col. 1:27; 1 Jn. 3:24)
b.) Rests in the word (Rom. 3:1-2)
c.) Professes God (Rom. 10:2-4)
d.) Knows God’s will (Rom. 2:18) (Ezk. 33:31-32)
e.) Approves better things (1 Jn. 3:18)
f.) Is taught God’s law (Jer. 32:33; Eph. 4:20-22)
g.) Is sure he is a guide of the blind (Rom. 2:19) (Lk. 18:9; Hosea 10:13)
h.) Is sure he is a light to those in darkness (Rom. 2:19) (Jn. 9:41; Rev. 3:17)
I.) Is sure he is an instructor of the foolish (Rom. 2:20) (1 Cor. 10:12)
j.) Is sure he is a teacher of the immature (Rom. 2:20) (Mk. 7:6; Isa. 29:13)
k.) Has the law, the embodiment of truth (Rom. 2:20) (Mt. 23:23; Acts 28:27; 2 Tim. 3:5) 

           
2.) THE RELIGIONIST FAILS TO LIVE WHAT HE PROFESSES (ROM. 2:21-24)

a.) The Fact: His life does not match what he says (Mt. 23:28; Lk. 6:46; 1 Jn. 3:18; Ps. 50:16-20; Ex. 20:15; Eph. 4:28; Mt. 5:27-28; Deut. 11:16; Isa. 42:8; 1 Jn. 5:21)
b.) The Result: His hypocrisy causes others to abuse God’s name (Rom. 2:24) (Mk. 7:6; Titus 1:16; James 3:10)
