PEACE…PEACE! WONDERFUL PEACE!

By Anita Mondragon

“The peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”  Phil. 4:7

This is the promise I drew for today from my box of Promises.  Sounds pretty easy to grab hold of…right?  But, after looking it up, and doing a bit of research, I found that there is a condition attached to it…something we must do first before just accepting it.  Sometimes we pick one verse, usually the one we want to work for us, and forget to read it in context.  We should always read the surrounding verses…the before, and after verses to get the full meaning.

Read Philippians 4:6.    In verse six, we have a condition to fulfill before the promise can be granted in verse seven.  We all want the promise found in verse seven, but most of us skip through verse six, never realizing that it holds the answer to our questions of:

“What is the peace that passes all understanding?”  And…”How do I find that peace?”

The way we find this amazing peace: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God” (verse 6). God promises His peace to all who will follow the instructions laid out in this verse.

God says, “YOU DO YOUR PART…AND I WILL DO MINE!”

Here is the little poem that was also found on the card I drew this morning.

“Not always can I see the course my ship of life must sail;

But since my Father guides the helm, I’ll calmly face the gale.”- Unknown

When we are thankful in ALL things that befall us in life, God grants us peace that even we, at times can’t understand!

THE NEW YEAR

By Anita Mondragon
As the New Year drew near, I again found myself looking through some old writings.  I stumbled upon a poem written by an elderly lady that attended my dad’s church. She was a great poet, and a wise woman.  I decided to share the following with you. Enjoy! –anita

THE CROSSROADS…

By Anita Mondragon
Here is a poem I wrote in March of 2013.  It was at a time when I had some serious choices to make, and was unclear about the direction I needed to go.  I’m sure we can all relate to this dilemma! -anita

THE WAR IS NOT OVER!

“Things are not what they seem.  This is a world at war.  Each of us has a crucial role to play….  A battle is raging, and it is a battle for your heart.” -John Eldredge

FROM HIM, TO ME

By Anita Mondragon
During my early years of childhood, our family was very poor.  We lived in a ratty old house with plaster walls, most of which was missing.  My mom would stuff old rags in between the cracks to keep the cold out.  I wore hand-me-downs until I was eight years old, and slept in a crib until I was six.  Christmas for us was very different indeed.  We struggled to have food on the table, so my brother and I rarely had presents.  This poem came from a memory of one Christmas in particular.-anita
