SATISFACTION…

By Anita Mondragon

Remember that old song by the Rolling Stones?  –  “I can’t get no satisfaction.”  Well, that has been a picture of the world for quite some time now, and it’s even worse in these present days!  Now that we’re locked up in our homes due to the virus, we are finding ourselves miserable.  Things we did before when we felt unsatisfied, we can no longer do.  Going out to eat when we want to, shopping, going to the mountains, visiting parks, going on vacation…the list goes on.  Truth is, these outings were/are nothing but bandages!  They do not ‘heal’ our wanton condition, they merely cover it up for a short time.  It’s like the alcoholic…the next drink is not the cure.  Read more…

READY OR NOT…

By Anita Mondragon

My youngest loves to play Tag, and Hide and go seek.  My son studies his options for the latter game.  He knows where to hide so that I can’t find him.  He’s tricked me quite a few times to where I finally give up, and he wins the game.  I was reminded of this last night when we played before bed.

My husband on the other hand, loves to fish.  His equipment is always in tip-top shape, all in one place, and ever ready to go at the drop of a hat!

Some of you may be scratching your head and asking ‘why’ is she sharing this on a church blog. Read more…

THE WAITING ROOM

By Anita Mondragon

Have you ever made an appointment with someone, only to end up waiting way past the time you were to be seen?  I have!  Almost every time I make a Doctor appointment, I have to wait 20-30 minutes past my appointment time sitting in the waiting room-paging through old magazines; then I’m shown to a room and told the doctor will be right in.  However, that seldom happens, and I wait even longer before they knock on the door and rush through with a smile and an apology.

I’ve been a Christian for 51 years, and at times, I find the answers to my prayers to be quite similar.  Most of the time, my answer comes quickly, but the hard ones…the ones that concern the choices of others seem to take longer.  Read more…

THE SECRET TO A HAPPY LIFE

by Anita Mondragon

What separates you from having joy?  I’m sure most of us right now would have to include Covid19 as being at least one thing that keeps us from having joy.  There are other ‘things’ attached to this virus…no travel, stay at home, confinement, boredom, loneliness….
So my question to you is…what will make you happy in life?  Is it going back to the norm of the way life was before the virus?  Going to work everyday,  being busy all the time…??  What will it take?

What if this virus lasts longer than folks expect?  What if you don’t have a job to return to when this is all over?  What if your idea of happiness never comes? Read more…

When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him. -Isaiah 59:19

….NO! I didn’t make a mistake on the title of this blog…I purposefully did not capitalize the first word, he.  he doesn’t deserve the dignity it implies. I know you’re confused now…so read on….

WORDS UNTO THE LORD-5

By Anita Mondragon

Hezekiah received the letter from the messengers and read it. Then he went up to the temple of the LORD and spread it out before the LORD.  Isaiah 37:1

In my distress I called upon the Lord,
And cried out to my God;
He heard my voice from His temple,
And my cry came before Him, even to His ears.  Psalm 18:6

PUNCH HIS LIGHTS OUT!!!!!

By Anita Mondragon

We watched a movie last night, called, “Southpaw”.  It was written by Kurt Sutter. Here’s what he had to say about its origin.

Sutter’s script follows a welterweight boxing champion (Eminem) whose life is upended when tragedy strikes…“In a way, this is a continuation of the 8 Mile story, but rather than a literal biography, we are doing a metaphorical narrative of the second chapter of his life. He’ll play a world champion boxer who really hits a hard bottom, and has to fight to win back his life for his young daughter. At its core, this is a retelling of his struggles over the last five years of his life, using the boxing analogy. I love that the title refers to [Eminem] being a lefty, which is to boxing what a white rapper is to hip hop; dangerous, unwanted and completely unorthodox. It’s a much harder road for a southpaw than a right-handed boxer.”…the real-life element adds a nice layer to the drama.
