TEACH ME TO PRAY…

By Anita Mondragon

“And it came to pass, that, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, one of His disciples said unto Him, Lord, teach us to pray…”  St. Luke 11:1

If you read the above passage through verse 4, you will see that we are to be concerned about our daily needs, and forgiveness of our sins.  We are to forgive others as well, and pray for the Kingdom of God, and His will to take over our daily lives. If we do that, others will see Him shine through us, here on earth.

Sometimes, we get too caught up in the things we WANT…and, not the things we NEED.  I’m speaking for myself now, but the things I NEED most…I don’t even ask for…

I’m speaking of Spiritual things.  Things like compassion, kindness, love to the unlovely, forgiveness extended to others.  These kinds of things are what I need to pray for on a daily basis.

Not just, “Give me…give me…give me…” petitions to God to satisfy our flesh, but, “Give me…” things that will satisfy others and bring them to a saving knowledge of Christ!

Our prayer every day should be, “Help me, Heavenly Father, to find the time this day to be alone with You!  Show me how to be a light to others…teach me to pray!”
