The Motherhood of God
“God could not be everywhere, so He made Mothers.”- Jewish saying.
(Mt. 6:8, 7:11; Gal. 4:6; 2 Cor. 1:3, 4; Isa. 49:15) 1. GOD COMFORTS BY HIS PRESENCE (JN. 14:18) 2. GOD COMFORTS US BY HIS WORDS (JN. 6:67, 68) 3. GOD COMFORTS US BY HIS SILENCE “In the heart of Jesus, there is love for you. Love most pure and tender, love most deep and true. Why should I be lonely, why for friendship sigh, when the heart of Jesus has a full supply.” 4. GOD COMFORTS US BY HIS SYMPATHY (LUKE 13:34) “As trustful as a child who looks up in his mother’s face, and all his little griefs and fears forgets in her embrace; So I, to thee, my Saviour, look, and in thy face divine, can read the love that will sustain as weak a faith as mine.” - J.D. ROMANS 5:12-21 - Adam and Christ - The Two Focal Points of History Pt. 2
1.) THE ENTRANCE OF SIN AND DEATH THROUGH ADAM (ROM. 5:12-14) 2.) THE COUNTERACTION - THE REVERSAL - OF SIN AND DEATH BY CHRIST (ROM. 5:15-18)
a.) Adam’s sin brought death; God’s gift brought righteousness (Rom. 5:15)
1.) God has showered His grace upon man (Eph. 2:4-9; Titus 3:7) 2.) God has made His gift (righteousness) available to man (Rom. 4:24-25; 2 Cor. 5:21; Titus 3:4-6)
b.) Adam’s sin brought condemnation; God’s gift brought justification (Rom. 5:16) (Acts 13:39; Rom. 5:1; Gal. 3:6) c.) Adam’s sin brought the reign of death; God’s gift brought the reign of life (Rom. 5:17)
1.) Note two glorious truths:
a.) Believers “Reign in life” while on this earth (Jn. 10:10; 2 Cor. 9:8; Eph. 3:20; Phil. 4:19; 2 Pet. 1:11; Ps. 36:8) b.) Believers shall “Reign in life” throughout all eternity (Jn. 3:16, 5:24; Lk. 19:17, 22:28-29; 1 Cor. 6:2-3) d.) Adam’s sin brought condemnation to all men, God’s gift brought justification of life upon all men (Rom. 5:18) (Rom. 6:23, 8:32; 2 Cor. 9:15; Eph. 2:8)
3.) THE CONCLUSION (ROM. 5:19-21)
a.) Adam’s disobedience made many sinners, but Christ obedience made many righteous (Rom. 5:19) (Heb. 2:10, 5:9, 7:25-26) b.) The law was given to point out and magnify sin, but God’s grace was so much greater (Rom. 5:20) (Rom. 3:20; Gal. 3:19, 24; Eph. 1:7, 2:7; 1 Tim. 1:14-15) c.) Sin reigned to death, but God’s grace reigned to eternal life (Rom. 5:21)
1.) By Adam, sin reigns, - Leads to death (Rom. 5:12; Prov. 11:19; Ezk. 18:4, 18:20) 2.) By God, grace reigns - Leads to eternal life (Jn. 1:4, 11:25-26, 14:6; 2 Tim. 1:10; 1 Jn. 1:2, 5:12) But Note the Source: Eternal life comes only through the righteousness of “Jesus Christ our lord.”
