    TWO KEYS THAT DETERMINE WHO WE ARE

    1.) Who we perceive ourselves to be 2.) Who we associate with (2 Sam. 13:3) “. . . Amnon has a friend. . .” (Prov. 13:20; 1 Cor. 5:9,11)

    A.) FOUR BASIC PRINCIPLES OF SURROUNDINGS:

    1.) Your surroundings (friends) will make or break you (1 Cor. 15:33, 5:11, 2 Cor. 6:17-18; 2 Jn. 1:10) 2.) You are or become like your surroundings (friends) (Ex. 23:2; Prov. 4:14) 3.) You are known by your surrounding (friends)

    a.) Surround yourself with friends that have a proper outlook on life (Prov. 24:1) (Prov. 27:17; 22:24)

    4.) Your future is no greater than your surroundings (friends)

    a.) Amnon forfeited his future because of his friend (Prov. 18:24)

    4.) MEN DO NOT HONOR GOD NOR GIVE THANKS (ROM. 1:21)

    a.) Man’s imaginations become vain (Gen. 6:5; Ps. 10:4, 94:11; Prov. 6:16-19, 15:26; Ezk. 8:12) b.) Man’s “Foolish Heart is Darkened” (Ps. 82:5; Prov. 2:13, 4:19; Acts 28:27; 2 Cor. 4:4; Eph. 4:18; 2 Tim. 3:7;                             Mt. 7:26-27; James 4:17)

    5.) MEN BECOME PRIDEFUL AND TURN AWAY FROM GOD (ROM. 1:22-23)

    a.) Men profess themselves to be wise (Isa. 29:14; Jer. 4:22; 1 Cor. 1:18-19, 2:6-7, 3:19-20; Col. 2:8, 23) b.) Men exchange the incorruptible God for some corruptible idol (Acts 17:29; 1 Jn. 5:21; Deut. 11:26-28; Isa. 42:8)

    2.) IT IS THE POWER OF GOD TO SAVE (ROM. 1:16)

    a.) All who believe b.) All nationalities, both Jew and Greek (Jn. 7:37; Ro. 10:12-13; 2 Tim. 2:4) c.) Salvation means:

    1.) Deliverance from being lost (Mt. 18:11-12; Lk. 19:10; Jn. 5:14, 10:9)                                                                          2.) Deliverance from Sin (Mt. 1:21; Lk. 7:50; Jn. 3:17, 12:47; Eph. 2:8-9; 2 Tim. 1:9-10) 3.) Deliverance in the future (Ro. 8:23-24; 1 Thess. 5:9-10; 2 Tim. 4:18; 1 Pet. 1:3-5, 9) 4.) Deliverance from enemies and danger (Mt. 8:25-27, 14:30-31; Lk. 1:69, 71; Acts 27:34; Heb. 11:7; 2 Pet. 3:10-15) 5.) To make well, to heal to restore to health (Mt. 9:20-22; Mk. 10:51-52; Acts 4:9-10; James 5:15)

    3.) IT IS THE REVELATION OF GOD’S RIGHTEOUSNESS (ROM. 1:17)

    a.) The Problem: Man’s unrighteousness (Mt. 5:20; 2 Cor. 5:21) b.) The Answer: “Faith” (Gen. 15:6; Acts 13:39; Ro. 3:28, 4:3, 23-24, 5:1; 1 Cor. 6:11; Gal. 3:24; Mt. 24:13)
