Breathe My Name

By Anita Mondragon

Well, we are back from our short little vacation.  It was awe-inspiring!  The scenery down in the San Luis Valley is unbelievable!!  You always hear about Montana being ‘the big sky country’…well, I’m here to tell you that I’ve never seen so much sky as I did on this trip! I really needed this, and didn’t even know how much until I tried to take it all in.

While on this jaunt, we stayed at a motel with a pool.  Our son loves frolicking in the water, and he’s getting pretty good at swimming.

On the way home, we were all discussing how much fun we had.  I told my son how proud of him I am for doing so well in the pool…especially, the great back float he can do.  He said, “Awww…it’s easy mom!  All you have to do is look up and breathe, you can’t sink.”

At that moment, I heard God whisper in my ear and say, “It’s the same with life.  When you’re on life’s stormy ocean, and you feel like you’re about to sink under the waves of troubles and problems…JUST LOOK UP AND BREATHE MY NAME.  I promise I won’t let you drown!

I needed to be reminded of that, especially now, for times are hard.  The pandemic, quarantine, loss of jobs, businesses going bankrupt, confinement, social distancing, masks…  The world is not the same as we knew it a few months ago.  But let me remind you, as well as myself…

OUR GOD IS STILL ON THE THRONE!  HE IS STILL IN CONTROL!  So when you feel the pressures of this life-sucking the breath right out of you…LOOK UP!  BREATHE THE NAME OF JESUS!  He’s got you!  He won’t let you sink!
