HE LOVES ME!

By Anita Mondragon

“Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.”  I John 4:10

That word, propitiation, is not often used in this day and age, so I looked it up to clarify its meaning for all of us.  Here is what Mr. Webster has to say…

Propitiation:  Atoning sacrifice; Specifically, the self-sacrifice and death of Jesus viewed as appeasing divine justice and effecting a reconciliation between God and man.

The above verse came from a promise that I pulled out of my Box.  After reading it, I remembered an old hymn we used to sing in my dad’s church.  Here are some of the words to that song. Read more…

DON’T FRET!

By Anita Mondragon

“Seek ye, first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”  Matthew 6:33

Don’t fret.  Yet, sometimes I do.  Not intentionally, but I still do.

We are to trust God to do what HE is going to do.  It’s hard at times, I’ll admit.  When there are things going on beyond our control…when it looks like there is no end to the problem…no light to be seen at the end of the tunnel…all those clichés that come to mind…that you can think of to fit your present dilemma; but we are to trust God to come through.   He always does.  Oh, maybe not in our time…or the way we think He should…but He always takes care of us.

My problem is, I usually want to tell Him how and when to do it. Read more…

IN THESE TROUBLED TIMES

By Anita Mondragon

I went to bed last night and was very troubled in my soul at the things going on in our government. I prayed and tried to leave things in God’s hands for He IS in control. When I awoke this morning, the following words were going through my head. They helped calm my heart. Hope they do the same for you…. -Anita

TWAS THE MORNING AFTER CHRISTMAS

By Anita Mondragon

The following poem was written the day after Christmas as I found myself still cleaning up from Christmas Eve!
My son, Joe, keeps reciting,  ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas, so I found it easy to write about the morning…and days after that wonderful holiday. I’m sure all the mom’s out there can identify!  Enjoy!-Anita

‘Twas the morning after Christmas

When all through the house,

Not a creature was stirring

Dog… cat…or mouse!

Well…except for me, of course; I’m mom! Read more…

MARY’S LITTLE LAMB

By Anita Mondragon

I am always reminded of the verse in John 1:29 that says this: “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” That Lamb…Mary’s little Lamb, is Jesus!

One day, I was watching my grand-daughter, Audrey.  She came to me in the kitchen, and tugged on my dress…

“Grandma…will you read me some nursery rhymes?”

I told her to go get the book.  As she crawled into my lap and I began to read, the first five words struck me to the heart!

 “Mary had a little lamb…”

At that very moment, God’s voice was almost audible, as I heard Him say to me… Yes…she did, and HE was the Son of God!”

After she left, Jesus and I sat down and wrote this poem together.  Hope you enjoy!

A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL! -Anita

FROM HIM, TO ME

By Anita Mondragon
During my early years of childhood, our family was very poor.  We lived in a ratty old house with plaster walls, most of which was missing.  My mom would stuff old rags in between the cracks to keep the cold out.  I wore hand-me-downs until I was eight years old, and slept in a crib until I was six.  Christmas for us was very different indeed.  We struggled to have food on the table, so my brother and I rarely had presents.  This poem came from a memory of one Christmas in particular.-Anita

A ratty old shack

On the poor side of town;

No Christmas lights

Anywhere to be found.

Inside it’s doors,

Lived a family of four;

Wanting…and hungry…

So very poor!

I remember it well, Read more…

WHEN I AM DISCOURAGED

by Francine Rodriguez

Have you ever felt like you have given your all and yet no one appreciates what you do? And just when you feel that your making some progress everything seems to be shot down. When you’re overwhelmed and distressed it seems as if everyone is against you, suddenly you discover there is no one to turn to for comfort or help in your trouble, no one but God.

We read in 1 Samuel 30 that David felt the same way we do at times. But David discovered that when there is no one to stand by you or to encourage you that sometimes you just have to learn how to strengthen yourself in the Lord.

David and his men had returned home to Ziklag to find that the Amalekites had been there and they had raided and burned the city of Ziklag. But the worst was that they had taken all the women, their sons, and daughters and all that were there captive. They were distressed and they cried until they couldn’t cry anymore. Read more…

IF YOU’VE NEVER HAD A T-BONE STEAK…

By Anita Mondragon

I was remembering some of my old life yesterday, and how chaotic it all was. There wasn’t much good to be found. Yes, I was still breathing…but I wasn’t ALIVE! After pondering on that for most of the day, I went to bed last night thinking about how sweet life is with Jesus. HE changed everything for me! It reminded me of the following Country Western song I heard many years ago. “At the time”, I thought I loved my life when Satan was my master, but since I met Jesus…I know I was barely surviving.

Take a look at the words with a spiritual view, and see if you don’t agree with me! Words in parenthesis are mine…. -anita

ARE YOU UNDER A CURSE?

by Mike Mondragon

Cain did not get himself in trouble, when he killed his brother, he was already in trouble.

There were signs previous to his deadly and murderous encounter with his brother, which showed Cain was not right with God, and he was not obedient to God.

Short and to the point, are we right with God tonite? You see, regardless of what we believe, there is no such thing as a little sin or big sin. All sin is equal to God.

THE LAST CHAPTERS

by Anita Mondragon

“Even when you are old, I will be the same.  Even when your hair has turned gray, I will take care of you.  I made you and will take care of you.  I will carry you and save you.”  Isaiah 46:4

This predicament I seem to be in has been on my mind for a few years now.  When your parents have died, and all your aunts and uncles have joined them, you realize how frail life can be.

Then the ravages of time start catching up with YOU…it seems that Miss Clairol and Max Factor have become two of your best friends!  You dye your hair now because you have to…not because you want a ‘new’ look!  You try to cover up the new wrinkles that appear every day.  You realize your youth has faded.  What’s that old song…”The Old Gray Mare, she ain’t what she used to be….?  Read more…
