Yesterday, towards the end of the day before my husband was to arrive home, I took a few moments to collect myself.  I turned on Pandora, and sat down to soak up some of those sad wails.  A song came on by Randy Travis entitled, Forever Together.  The next song was by Alan Jackson called, Song for the Life. 

As I listened, I realized that both of these songs could be words of Worship unto God.

In reading poetry, song lyrics, or even pros, I have noticed a trend.  The cries from man’s heart, the songs of love, the deepest part of our emotions appear in these things.  They bear out our desires and yearnings for God…our need of a Savior.

I changed some of the words to both of those songs mentioned above so that you can see what I mean.  I am not a plagiarist, and take no credit for the following words.  I write them so that you can understand.  You can google the correct words and see the paradox.

I took you for granted for so many years.  I lived without hope…broken promises and tears.  Even though I was down, YOU were always right there.  YOU picked up the pieces and showed me you care!  You always knew what could be all along.  You had the love and the will to go on.  It took me some time, but now I realize…I can see it all when I look in YOUR eyes.  Together forever, we’re never apart…forsaking all sin, I give you my heart.  Through good times and bad times, you’ll always be there…together forever, I’m held in YOUR care!

The chorus on Song for the Life says:

There’s a song for the life that in YOU I have found; it keeps my feet stable, I’m on solid ground.  Here’s a song for the Friend, that in YOU I have found…Oh Jesus!  YOU keep my feet on solid ground.

Here is another Country song by Alabama.  The chorus says this, (I have changed only one word):

There’s no way I could make it without you
There’s no way that I’d even try
If I had to survive without you in my life
I know I wouldn’t last a day, oh JESUS, there’s no way!

Do you see how these songs could be songs of worship?  Next time you listen to the radio, LISTEN, and hear what is really being said.
