A WALK IN PSALM 23

By Mark Hays

I’ve walked through the valley of the shadow of death,
Been in situations where I couldn’t catch my breath;

Had fears, like shadows, follow me wherever I go
Searched far and wide for something to ease my soul,

Until one day I found this Shepherd, a man from Galilee,
Who said leave everything behind and follow Me;

I followed Him beside quiet waters and He restored my broken soul,
I realized I knew this man from stories of old;

He said He knew me from before time began,
So I left my tears behind me, with Him I ran.

Goodness and mercy have followed me ever since,
And now I walk in Heavenly bliss.

No shadow of death looms over me,
He, given me peace that surpasses understanding.

Now I call Him Lord, a Savior is He,
And I’m thankful in His house forever I will be.
