On Memorial Day, we visited the graves of my in-laws and my parents. It was bitter-sweet…

I knew my daddy wasn’t there…only the remains of his mortal body were laid to rest beneath the cool dewy grass; and even though it’s been nearly twenty years…my wounds from his passing seemed fresh. Read more…

Have you watched the news lately?  The world is at war.  Not only out-and-out war with one nation against another…but people in general are at war with their neighbors, friends, spouses, and family! Courts are full of divorce cases, domestic abuse, civil suites, assault, theft, rape, murder.  Fights springing up out of nowhere over petty things, ending up in murder.  Abuse of every kind-alcohol, drug, sexual, physical, verbal-all on the rise.  The world, and I’m talking about those that do not have the Hope of Jesus, is drenched in anger…rage.  They are living for the moment, casting up their dirt and mire, wallowing in self pleasures of today because they have no hope of a better tomorrow. What is the definition of contend?

One of the meanings of contend is from the French “to strive with,” and it is a literal fighting, as in “to contend with fists.”. Most contemporary uses of the verb contend illustrate competitions of proof or defense, where a person will contend that something is true, or better, or wrong. Read more…

As I read the following words this morning, I was reminded of a T-shirt I had long ago.  On it, was a parchment note, attached by three rusty nails.  It simply read:

“I’ve gone to see My Father.  We’re building you a beautiful house.  So get ready, because I’ll be back soon to get you!  Love, Jesus

Take a look….

God, IN you!

At times, we of the lower middle class look at those more financially fortunate than ourselves, and envy what they have.

We wish our house was larger, our car newer, our bank account more substantial.  Even Christians find themselves always wishing for more.  It is a malady of the human spirit.  We never seem to be satisfied!
