DUMP THOSE OLD ‘FILES’!  PUT ‘EM IN THE CLOUD!

By Anita Mondragon

Back in 2006, the modern term of ‘cloud computing’ really took off. Old paper files became a thing of the past and now virtually everything is put in the cloud. This clears up a lot of space for the important things.

I had to look up that term to get its full meaning. Here’s what I found… Cloud computing is the on-demand availability of computer system resources, especially data storage and computing power, without direct active management by the user.
I really began thinking about the Spiritual connotation to this concept…especially the last part. You see, I have an old file cabinet I need to get rid of! You know the one I’m talking about…it’s the one in the back of my mind. You probably have one too.

Mine is full of folders that are decades old. They contain notes on how to get revenge and get even with those who have hurt me. They all have the names of the offenders as well. They list all the hurts and wounds caused by these folks. All of the demeaning words, the abuse-both mental and physical are there. The unkindness and injustices are noted as well.

If you think that’s bad, I tend to blame every new offense made by someone and hold them in an account for past violations done to me by others before them. I run to the cabinet and pull out all the old folders of past offenses, and begin a new file with their name on it. I drudge up all the ugly past and wallow in its dirt and mire. Forgiveness never crosses my mind. My old file cabinet holds no good memories. And sadly, I must admit I have wasted much of my life accessing these files and brooding over them.

It’s time to get rid of the junk in these files! Time to USE my on-demand availability in the form of PRAYER, and relinquish MY direct active management to the Holy Spirit-otherwise known as “The Comforter.” He can “shred” the ugliness and pain that these ‘files’ cause and replace them with JOY!

Perhaps it’s time for you to upgrade and dump all your old ‘files’ in the cloud as well, and allow Jesus to fill your cabinet with folders of forgiveness and mercy!
