Years ago, during one of my many rebellious times, while at work one day, I became momentarily distracted by something just outside my window.  As I watched, the cotton from a grove of Cotton Wood trees floated gently through the air.   You could faintly hear the quiet motion of the leaves rustling softly in the warm breeze.  It was a beautiful sight!  So calm and serene.

I heard the Holy Spirit say, “I’m like the breeze…when you follow My leading, you will glide through things with seemingly no obstacles.  But, when you are resistant to My gentle coaxing, My voice will become like the winds of a mighty tornado which can up-root the strongest of trees. …Before it gets that way, I need you to listen to Me.”

That was a turning point in my life.  I began to give my rebellion to God, and let Him change me!

If we truly belong to Jesus, we will hear His voice…even when it whispers, for we are His sheep.  He will lead us through the wilderness, or beside still waters, but the difficulty of the journey is our choice.

We can move at His very whisper as it stirs the strings of our hearts, or we can ignore Him until He calls to us with the voice of many waters.  The choice is ours…an easy transition, or, because of our stubbornness and rebellion, we can have the feeling of being up-rooted.

Not long after that encounter, I decided to make it easy on myself and, “follow the whisper”, instead of having to head for the storm shelter!
