Have you ever trusted,
and somebody abused that trust,
Just took it,
and kicked it in the dust;
And you swore you’d never trust again,
because the pain was too great
and you cry within;
You fear opening up will just bring a fall,
because you’ve seen it once,
and it applies to all;
Who will come into your life forevermore,
who claim love,
you just shut the door;
Well, you’re not alone,
many have felt that same way,
who’s broken hearts
don’t want to come out and play;
But there’s one who can mend your broken heart,
help you to trust,
and make a new start;
His name is Jesus, and He gave all
for you and me,
if we heed His call;
He’s promised good to those who love Him,
He showed us this as He died for our sin;
He died for you and me,
and He calls come
all who are weary;
and heavy-laden and He will give you rest,
His love is true,
it has passed the test;
So seek Him and draw near
for His perfect love will cast out your fear.
