RISE UP AND SING!!

By Anita Mondragon

Oh, thank God—he’s so good!
    His love never runs out.
All of you set free by God, tell the world!
Tell how he freed you from oppression,
Then rounded you up from all over the place,
from the four winds, from the seven seas. Psalm 107: 2-4-MSG

Are you struggling today?  Instead of quiet, peaceful moments…do you find yourself full of anxiety?  If so, I have two promises to share with you.

CAN YOU HEAR ME?

As we were cleaning out the garage for the Swap, Mike found his old song book.  It has numerous songs in it that he wrote many years ago.  I grabbed it up, and brought it in to share with you readers.  Here’s one of the many.   Keep in mind….this is God speaking to YOU!  Enjoy! -anita

PRECIOUS MEMORIES…

By Anita Mondragon

Years ago, my daddy and his brothers formed a quartet.  He was a tenor, and had a beautiful voice.  Folks from all over the county came to hear the group…in fact,  that is how he and my mother became acquainted! When I was older, he and I used to sing together at church.  He also played the piano and organ…never had any lessons, he played by ear, and backwards.  Instead of playing the melody with his right hand, he played it with his left, and the bass part, (the cords) he played with his right hand.  In order for it to sound correct, he had to cross his hands over each other.  It was quite a site…and sounded beautiful!

When I was about twenty-five years of age, he and I put together a medley of old hymns and sang them at church one Sunday.  Everyone loved it so much, it became a standing request.  Here are the words to that medley of songs.  Enjoy! -anita

PEACE…PEACE! WONDERFUL PEACE!

By Anita Mondragon

“The peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”  Phil. 4:7

This is the promise I drew for today from my box of Promises.  Sounds pretty easy to grab hold of…right?  But, after looking it up, and doing a bit of research, I found that there is a condition attached to it…something we must do first before just accepting it.  Sometimes we pick one verse, usually the one we want to work for us, and forget to read it in context.  We should always read the surrounding verses…the before, and after verses to get the full meaning.

Read Philippians 4:6.    In verse six, we have a condition to fulfill before the promise can be granted in verse seven.  We all want the promise found in verse seven, but most of us skip through verse six, never realizing that it holds the answer to our questions of:

“What is the peace that passes all understanding?”  And…”How do I find that peace?”

The way we find this amazing peace: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God” (verse 6). God promises His peace to all who will follow the instructions laid out in this verse.

God says, “YOU DO YOUR PART…AND I WILL DO MINE!”

Here is the little poem that was also found on the card I drew this morning.

“Not always can I see the course my ship of life must sail;

But since my Father guides the helm, I’ll calmly face the gale.”- Unknown

When we are thankful in ALL things that befall us in life, God grants us peace that even we, at times can’t understand!
